The Kishu inu dog, sometimes called Kishu Inu or Kishu dog, is a Japanese breed of dog. It is descended from ancient medium-sized breeds and named after the Kishu region, now Mie Prefecture and Wakayama Prefecture. It was designated a living national monument of Japan in 1934. The Kishu inu dog have been prized since prehistoric times for boar and deer hunting. Like the Shiba Inu, they are often quiet. The Kishu inu dog will stalk prey quietly rather than bark. They are the most commonly used purebred native Japanese breed used for hunting boar to this day.
What does Kishu inu dog look like?
The head of the Kishu inu dog is larger than other medium-sized dogs; the eyes are small, triangular; the ears are small, slightly forward, and erect; the tail is curled up, and the tail is sickle-shaped or semi-curled; the limbs are muscular. The upper hair rim is thick and short, and the lower hair is soft and dense. The coat color used to be white, red, and flax; now there are only white and light brown, and white is the best. slightly longer neck and tail hair.
